Activist Murders in Aceh Allan Nairn Challenges TNI to Have Arguments on Court

VHRmedia, Jakarta – US journalist Allan Nairn challenged the Indonesia’s military to file a lawsuit against him, if they think that Allan Nairn has spread false news about assumption of Kopassus involvement in series of politic murders in Aceh. Several activists of Aceh Party were murdered during the legislative election 2009 in Aceh Province.On his email to VHRmedia, Allan Nairn said that court can reveal the fact about who was behind the murders of activists of Aceh Party.
“I challenge the Indonesia military to have me arrested, as they have threatened to do. Then we can discuss their assassinations in the open court and I will attempt to call TNI generals as witnesses, as well as the US officials who’ve aided their crimes,” Allan Nairn said, Wednesday (3/24).
As quoted by Kompas daily, Thursday (3/25), the Kopassus Commander May. Gen. Lodewijk F Paulus took information from Allan Nairn as nonsense. According to him, Kopassus had removed their troops from Aceh after Helsinki agreement was signed. “It means that there are no Kopassus troops in Aceh since August 15th, 2005, he said.

On his blog (www.Allannairn.com), Allan Nairn said that several activists of Aceh Party was murdered. Among victims were Tumijan, a worker of palm oil plantation in Nagan Raya and Dedi Novandi, known as Abu Karim, who was shot by unidentified people in front of his house. (E1)
