VHRmedia, Jakarta – Panel judges of South Jakarta State Court postponed their verdict on lawsuit against Koran Tempo, filed by Munarman. The judges said that they have not finished in studying the case yet.
According to Koran Tempo lawyer Hermawanto, the judges should make verdict on Munawarman lawsuit on July 9, 2009. But they put it off to July 15, next week.
Hermawanto said that he doesn’t care about the delay. It usually happens in the court. “The judges are not ready yet. They will read the verdict next week,” Hermawanto said in the South Jakarta State Court, Thursday (7/9).
Munawarman, the commander of Laskar Islam, filed a lawsuit against Koran Tempo for the review of incident in National Monumen, June 1, 2008. Islam Defenders Front (FPI) was accused to do violence against members of the National Alliance for Religious Freedom (AKKBB).
Koran Tempo published a picture which showed Munarman had been strangling a person, assumed to be a member of AKKBB. Munarman took it as a slander, and filed a lawsuit against Koran Tempo for defamation case and ask the newspaper to pay 1.2 million rupiah for material detriment and 13 billion rupiah for immaterial detriment.
Munarman asked the judges of South Jakarta State Court to approve the seizing of property of Koran Tempo and ask the national media to publish an apology on six television stations and six printed media. Koran Tempo had corrected the news on June 4, 2008, but Munarman still doesn’t want to cancel his lawsuit. (E1)
