Muntilan Temple Commemorates 40 Days of Gus Dur’s Death

VHRmedia, Magelang – Hundreds of interfaith congregation prayed at Hok An Kiong Temple, Muntilan to commemorate the 40 days of Abdurrahman ‘Gus Dur’ Wahid’s death. At the ceremony, the congregation declared the harmony among religions movement: Merajut Merah Putih (Binding the Red and White).
The Declaration of Binding the Red and White was symbolized by the turning over of red and white linen from the Magelang Interfaith Association’s chairman Bambang Sukoco to the head of Hok An Kiong.
The Binding Red and White Movement will be continued by setting up an interfaith post in every worship house. “We ask the congregation to collect red and white linen at every post. It aims to unify congregations from all religions,” Ahmad Majidun of Ansor Youth Movement said, Sunday (2/7) evening.
On Saturday (2/6), Van Lith Association (Pavali) and Yogya-Magelang Interfaith Network staged a joint prayer for leading figures of this nation. They gave appreciation for leading figures, such as Gus Dur, Romo Mangun, Ibu Gedong from Bali, and Frans Seda, who are considered to play significant roles in fighting for the harmony among religions.
