Ciwidey Landslide
Hysterical cries broke the silent at Tenjolaya Village in Ciwidey area. Tuesday (2/23) morning, the beautiful village, surrounded by tea plantation, was filled by sorrow. Landslide leveled the village, the place where tea pickers of PT Cakra Dewata live.
The cries of Tenjolaya residents in Pasirjambu subdistrict, Bandung Regency did not stop even though they had been evacuated to disaster mitigation post. Some of them worried about their family members who had not been found.
Only 17 death victims had been found, their names were displayed on a board at a mosque in Cimeri Kampong. Meanwhile, 25 others were assumedly buried under the landslide.
A little hope came after a cat was found alive after it had been trapped under the landslide for two days. If a cat could survive, it is not impossible for our family members who had been lost to be found alive. “At least, the cat gives us a little hope,” said a resident of Tenjolaya Village. (E1)
